For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in what goes into why people do what they do. This led me to study the science of behavior i.e. Psychology. After completing my Bachelors and Masters in Applied Psychology, I began working primarily in the assessment of  neurological and psychiatric difficulties.

My curiosity about people & behavior, and desire to do more pushed me to specialize in Clinical Psychology. I then began working with individuals with a wide range of mental health experiences.

Along the way, I began feeling like something was missing; while I was able to be present and hold space for my clients, I felt the need to go beyond the conventional approach to helping my clients. It was during this time, I had the opportunity to train in Queer Affirmative Practices which has strengthened my practice further and given me more perspective to the lives on the margins.

I believe that just like seeking preventive care for physical health conditions, mental health can also be attended to before it becomes a necessity. My journey in the field thus far has taught me that psychotherapy need not be limited to helping individuals with diagnosed conditions. In fact, it also holds a lot of promise for those looking to tap into their inherent potential to grow.

My Journey

My Therapeutic Orientation

I am an RCI licensed Clinical Psychologist (CRR NO. A59922), with an M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology(2018) from LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health, Tezpur, Assam. My areas of training and experience include but are not limited to working with mental health experiences of anxiety, depression, childhood neglect & trauma, and grief.

My approach to therapy is eclectic. I am a queer-affirmative practitioner, and I borrow heavily from the feminist, narrative, person-centric, and supportive frameworks with techniques from both Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectic Behavior therapies. I use a variety of techniques in therapy, trying to find what will work best for my clients. These techniques are likely to include dialogue, interpretation, cognitive re-framing, awareness exercises, self-monitoring experiments, visualization, journal keeping, drawing, and reading books.
