For as long as I can remember, I’ve been intrigued by the question of why people do what they do. This curiosity led me to study the science of behavior—Psychology. After completing my Bachelors and Masters in Applied Psychology, I began working primarily in the assessment of neurological and psychiatric difficulties.
Driven by my desire to deepen my understanding of people and behavior, I specialized in Clinical Psychology and started working with individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges.
However, over time, I felt that something was missing. While I was able to be present and create space for my clients, I yearned to go beyond conventional methods of support. Pursuing training in Queer Affirmative Practices and Narrative Therapy has significantly enriched my practice, providing me with a broader perspective on the experiences of individuals living on the margins. These practices further deepened my understanding of how personal stories shape identity and well-being. As a result, my intersectional lens solidified, allowing me to offer therapy that is more inclusive, empathetic, and attuned to the complex realities of my clients’ lives.
I believe that, just as we seek preventive care for physical health, mental health should also be addressed proactively, before it becomes critical. My journey in the field has taught me that psychotherapy isn’t only for individuals with diagnosed conditions—it holds immense potential for those looking to tap into their inherent capacity for growth.
My Journey
My Therapeutic Orientation
I am an RCI licensed Clinical Psychologist (CRR NO. A59922), with an M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology(2018) from LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health, Tezpur, Assam.
My approach to therapy is eclectic, drawing from various therapeutic frameworks. As a practitioner with an intersectional lens, I integrate feminist, narrative, person-centered, and supportive approaches, while also incorporating techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) when necessary. I tailor these methods to meet the unique needs of each client. My practice may include dialogue, interpretation, cognitive re-framing, awareness exercises, self-monitoring experiments, visualization, journal keeping, drawing, and reading books.
